Get PDF
Gait recognition is the term used for detection of Human based on the features. The Feature extraction and Feature Mapping is the main aspect to recognize the Gestures from the Database of features. Recognition of any individual is a task to identify people. Human recognition methods such as face, fingerprints, and iris generally require a cooperative subject, physical contact or close proximity. These methods are not able to recognize an individual at a distance therefore recognition using gait is relatively new biometric technique without these disadvantages. Human identification using Gait is method to identify an individual by the way he walk or manner of moving on foot. Gait recognition is a type of biometric recognition and related to the behavioral characteristics of biometric recognition. Gait offers ability of distance recognition or at low resolution. This project aims to recognize an individual using his gait features. However the majority of current approaches are model free which is simple and fast but we will use model based approach for feature extraction and for matching of parameters with database sequences. After matching of Features, the Images have been identified and show the dataset from it matched. The Results are accurate and shows efficiency. In this firstly binary silhouette of a walking person is detected from each frame of an image. Then secondly, the features from each frame are extracted using the image processing operation. In the end SVM, K-MEANS and LDA are used for training and testing purpose. Every experiment and test is done on CASIA database. The results in this paper are better and improved from previous results by using SVM , K MEANS. DOI: 10.17762/ijritcc2321-8169.15067

Social media marketing is growing at a rapid pace. Marketers need to keep up with technology-savvy consumers and help the brands in reaching greater heights with the help of social media practices. This manuscript presents how an Over-the-Top platform like Netflix India uses social media as a digital tool for enhancing consumer engagement and building strong consumerbrand relationships using netnography as a tool. This manuscript further attempts to classify the content generated by Netflix India on its social media platforms- Instagram, Facebook, Twitter into diverse content typologies, identify the most significant content typology, and understand how the number of likes, comments, shares, retweets (in case of Twitter) relating to most significant content typology impacts the enhancement of consumer engagement amongst Netflix audience. Thereafter, the research study classifies the content generated by Netflix into three categories, namely- informational content, promotional content, and relational content. The study is further able to empirically illustrate how a greater number of likes, shares, comments, and retweets on relational content has a significant impact on consumer engagement of the brand Netflix

This study, as guided by cultural-ecological frameworks, examined multiple contextual stressors, including subjective economic hardship, acculturation, discrimination, and negative perceptions of school safety, as simultaneously linked to adolescents’ depressive symptoms, as well as the role of gender, familism values, family cohesion, and school connectedness on these associations. Data come from the Children of Immigrants Longitudinal Study (Portes and Rumbaut 2012) that included second-generation 8th- and 9th-grade children of foreign-born parents from the Mexican-origin subsample (n = 755; 52% male; time 1 M age = 14.20 years). Adolescents were either born in (60%) or immigrated prior to age 5 to the USA. Results of the regression analysis conducted via Mplus indicated that Mexican-origin female adolescents had higher levels of depressive symptoms at age 17. Subjective economic hardship, general discrimination, and negative perceptions of school safety were related to higher levels of depressive symptoms. Family cohesion was related to lower levels of depressive symptoms. Youth gender, familism values, family cohesion, and school connectedness were significant moderators. The present findings point to not only the harmful effects of subjective economic hardship, general discrimination, and negative perceptions of school safety on second-generation Mexican-origin adolescents’ mental health but also the significant protective role of school connectedness and family cohesion in promoting adolescents’ well-being. Implications for school psychology research and practice are discussed

The current study sought to examine the prospective relationship of peer victimization on changes in Asian American youth’s depressive symptoms during early adolescence, a crucial period for the development of depression and engagement in peer victimization among youth. Further, as guided by cultural–ecological frameworks, the current study also sought to examine the role of school-based peer support and gender as moderators on the relationship between peer victimization and depressive symptoms among this understudied population. Participants included Asian American youth (N = 232; M age = 12.96, SD = 1.40; 51% girls) who completed questionnaires in the school context. Data for this study included two measurement occasions over a 1-year interval. Results indicated that high levels of adolescents’ perceptions of peer victimization were associated with increased levels of depressive symptoms 1 year later. Additionally, results indicated that peer victimization interacted with reports of peer support within school, such that under conditions of moderate to high levels of school-based peer support, high levels of peer victimization related to increased depressive symptoms. Findings contribute to our understanding of the development of depressive symptoms among early adolescent Asian American youth and have implications for school-based depression prevention programming for Asian American youth

Applying Task Force Recommendations on Integrating Science and Practice in Health Service Psychology Education

    Get PDF
The proper role of research skills and training to conduct research in professional psychology education has been controversial throughout the history of the field. An extensive effort was undertaken recently to address that issue and identify ways the field might move forward in a more unified manner. In 2015, the American Psychological Association (APA) Board of Educational Affairs convened a task force to address one of the recommendations made by the Health Service Psychology Education Collaborative in 2013. That recommendation stated that the education and training of health service psychologists (HSPs) include an integrative approach to science and practice that incorporates scientific-mindedness, training in research skills, and goes well beyond merely “consuming” research findings. The task force subsequently developed recommendations related to the centrality of science competencies for HSPs and how these competencies extend beyond training in evidence-based practice. This article discusses the findings of the task force and the implications of its recommendations for education and training in HSP. The challenges and opportunities associated with implementing these recommendations in HSP graduate programs are examined

Management of Secondary Glaucoma, a Rising Challenge

    Get PDF
Secondary glaucoma has increased exponentially in recent times. This is partially due to the increase in complex eye surgeries like corneal transplantation and vitreoretinal surgery and partly due to the increase in life style related diseases like diabetes causing an increase in the prevalence of neovascular glaucoma. The other leading causes of secondary glaucoma are post-trauma, post-cataract surgery, and lens-induced glaucoma. Secondary glaucoma is an important cause of visual morbidity. The management of this complex glaucoma is difficult as they are mostly intractable and do not respond to anti-glaucoma medications. Many patients who are not managed by medical management may require surgical intervention along with vigilant control of their primary pathology. This course would address the stepwise approach to the management of these glaucomas and the tips and tricks to tackle the nuances during management. This chapter would specifically address the management of neovascular glaucoma, Post-PK glaucoma, lens-induced glaucoma, traumatic glaucoma, and uveitic glaucoma

Abstract

Background

Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) accounts for less than 10% of pediatric AML. Cases of APL in Down syndrome (DS) have been described in the literature rarely and it is rarer still to find the microgranular variant (M3v) of APL in trisomy 21 patients.

Case presentation

We present a case of a five-year-old female with Down syndrome diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). She came to our hospital with bleeding manifestations. Blood and bone marrow examination revealed promyelocytes showing a few fine granules and occasional Auer rods. Based on this morphology and cytochemistry, a diagnosis of APL microgranular variant (M3v) was made.

Conclusion

This case report emphasizes the importance of a high index of suspicion in the diagnosis of acute promyelocytic leukemia microgranular variant in Down syndrome.</p
